AMBIANCE 1992 AUDIO CD NOW AVAILABLE
The
fourth and final release of our popular Arcade Ambiance is now available. This
collection is as it was. Filled
with the electronic hums and beeps you remember along with classic sounds such
as the shuffle of the crowd, coin changer samples, Attract modes and more!
"I
closed my eyes today and took a virtual walk through a mid 80s arcade. I accomplished
this seemingly impossible feat via the latest edition of GDG's Arcade Ambiance
series. Soon, I could almost smell the snacks and see the players, hear their
arguements and the small sounds of quarters being lined up along the coin-op controller
rims in order to determine order of play. Then, like a symphony conductor, my
ear would seek out familiar groupings of sound effects and delightfully manic
arcade machine music, allowing me to identify a game here, a game there. But mostly
I allowed the sounds of a wonderful past time to simply wash over me. For veteran
gamers, this is mood audio of the first order." Bill

CARTRIDGE CONVERTED TO AN ACTUAL WORKING NES UNIT
An
amazing engineering job to state the least. A Super Mario Bros. NES cartridge
has been heavily modified, and is now a fully functioning console of it's own.
The hack unit plays Famicon cartridges, the Japanese equivalent to NES carts.
The micro-sized unit includes a power switch, A/V output, cartridge slot, and
even two controller ports on the bottom of the unit. Imagine fitting an entire
game system into what was originally used to house game data for a single game
for the console. | | NEW

MOVIE COMING TO THE SILVER SCREEN
Producers
Christine
Peters (Area 51, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days) and Michael Cerenzie (Blackout,
Black Water Transit) of CP Productions are bringing Midway Games' classic Joust
arcade game to the big screen. Cerenzie calls the new script by Marc Gottlieb
"Gladiator meets Mad Max." The film is set 25 years in the future and
includes a Las Vegas suspended in mid-air.
The
plan is to launch the new Joust franchise with a graphic novel, which is being
penned by Steven Elliot Altman of DC Comics and Dark Horse Comics, and will be
based on Gottlieb's screenplay. The film has been given the fast track by CP Productions
and should be wrapped by June 2008. Several A-list directors are already interested

VIDEOGAMES RETURN TO THE ARCADES
Okay,
who reading this saw this coming... That's right, an all new FMV game enters the
arcade scene promoting itself as "an interactive party game to play with
friends."
The
Act is a revolutionary new interactive comedy that was created by an all-star
team of former Disney animators. With The Act, is a high quality, hand drawn,
interactive animated feature film. You
play as Edgar, a shy window washer that through a series of mishaps, accidently
ends up pretends to be a doctor to save his job, protect his brother Wally and
get the girl! Refreshingly,
The Act has
an all -original control scheme which could help it sail above the failures of
FMV games of the past. Instead of using the traditional joystick and button set-up,
The Act uses an optical sensor knob where the player changes Edgar's personality
altering his emotions and actions. With more than twenty hours of branching paths
you play for a goal and not for a score.

THE SEEDS OF RETRO: CROCHETED ATARI 2600
Who
said that grandma's skill set wasn't that useful? It's a custom crocheted Atari
2600, complete with two controllers, a game cartridge, and Pitfall on the screen.
Amazing! These is exactly the sort of old school stuff we'd be filling our homes
and offices up with if it was for sale in stores.
Now the real proof comes
when someone knits us a next-gen system complete with a multiplayer game playing
out on the crocheted screen in -- wait for it -- high definition. That'd be like
a million lines of yarn or something. Better get to knitting before Super HDTV
gets invented.
